Dustin’s family members remain committed to doing everything they can to make sure that children are kept safe in cars. On August 13, 2001, the passenger safety laws in Arkansas were changed. Chris was present to speak at the news conference announcing the changes. The law makes it mandatory for a child Dustin’s age to be secured in a booster seat.
Dustin's father made a donation of money and toys and clothes to the Carousel School as a memorial to his son. It was a gesture of appreciation for the services provided while Dustin was a student at the school.
